Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrician
Roby Marcou, M.D., was among the first group of physicians to become board certified in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. She has developed an international following over more than 30 years of practice in both the US and in South-East Asia.
She founded a Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics clinic in Singapore and served as an Adjunct Professor and Senior Consultant at the National University Hospital Child Development Unit in Singapore. Most unusually, for a number of years, Dr. Marcou was a part-time middle school teacher at the Jakarta International School and brings that unique perspective to her work.
At the Chesapeake Center, Dr. Marcou provides Developmental-Behavioral Pediatric Consultations that consist of an extended medical evaluation of a child, teen, or young adult for behavioral, neurological, developmental, learning or emotional concerns. Consultations include diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, and monitoring of a patient’s progress. The assessments Dr. Marcou performs are a mixture of medical testing, neuro-developmental testing, and attainment testing, evaluating the ‘whole child’ in a comprehensive manner. In most cases, a classroom observation is part of her assessment process. The goal of assessment is to understand the patient’s challenges and strengths to optimize and personalize care.
Education and Training:
Dr. Marcou earned her undergraduate degree at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, studied medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and completed her pediatric residency at the Stanford University Hospitals.
