Adult Psychiatrist
Following her psychiatric training, April Anderson, DO entered into private practice in the Chicago area where she primarily helped people struggling with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and ADHD. She joined The Chesapeake Center in 2015, following a move to the Washington, DC area.
Dr. Anderson is known for her calm, straightforward, collaborative approach to working with her patients. She places an emphasis on developing a strong therapeutic alliance to ensure that appropriate care is tailored to each patient’s specific needs and goals. Dr. Anderson utilizes medication management and/or psychotherapy to help her patients reach their objectives. She frequently collaborates with other members of Chesapeake’s clinical team in order to provide the best care for her patients.
Education and Training:
Dr. Anderson grew up in the Midwest and attended college at Carleton College, receiving her bachelor’s degree in psychology before pursuing her medical training at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. She went on to complete her adult psychiatric residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
