Dr. Korrie Allen is a licensed clinical psychologist who has dedicated her career to working with neurodivergent children, adolescents, and adults. She specializes in learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and mood disorders. Dr. Allen is passionate about conducting comprehensive assessments that identify each client's unique strengths and challenges, setting them on a path to reach their full potential. She offers various evaluations, including early childhood/school readiness, autism spectrum disorder, school neuropsychological and ADHD, cognitive testing for school admissions, and social-emotional skills assessments.
In addition to assessments, Dr. Allen works clinically with individuals across the lifespan and their support systems, such as family, partners, and schools. She utilizes evidence-based integrative approaches, including behavioral interventions,cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT), and solutions-focused strategies. These approaches aim to enhance daily functioning and improve the overall quality of life for her clients.
Dr. Allen's research interests include ADHD, ASD, anxiety, depression, parent-child interaction training, and family therapy. She has been involved in extensive applied research focusing on children with severe behavior problems. Her recent studies have evaluated the impact of parent-child interaction training to address aggressive and oppositional behaviors among children with autism spectrum disorder. Dr. Allen has presented her findings at national conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals and books.
Education and Training:
With an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame and a doctoral degree in Psychology from St. John's University, Dr. Allen has a strong educational background. She has also directed the Educational Services Clinic at the University of Denver and served as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Eastern Virginia Medical School and on the professional staff at Children's Hospital of King's Daughters.
