Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist
Dr. Shana Gage is a triple board-certified psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of child & adolescent, adult, and addiction disorders. Dr. Gage skillfully blends her unique expertise to treat conditions ranging from ADHD and Mood & Anxiety Disorders, to those with more complex issues such as patients who have been dually diagnosed. She has special interest in adolescent, young adult, and female populations.
She is passionate about helping patients uncover the root causes of their emotional/behavioral disturbances and addictive behaviors. She approaches treatment from a holistic and integrated perspective with emphasis on addressing the biological, psychological, and social factors that contribute to mental health disorders.
Dr. Gage has years of experience as a treating physician working in varied collaborative settings to include inpatient, outpatient, residential, and rehabilitative treatment centers. As a mental health advocate, she is dedicated to breaking the stigmas that perpetuate and promote healthcare disparities especially in underserved populations. She recognizes the value of cohesion and familial support as foundational blocks in achieving successful treatment outcomes. She strongly encourages collaboration with family members, schools, and other relevant support systems in the treatment planning process. She is committed to providing compassionate, non-judgmental, and culturally competent care to all patients.
Education and Training:
Dr. Gage was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She received her undergraduate training from Oakwood University and her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency training at Howard University Hospital. Her specialty fellowships in Child & Adolescent and Addiction Psychiatry were completed at the University of Maryland School of Medicine where she was chosen as chief fellow and served as an assistant professor. She is board certified in Child & Adolescent, Adult, and Addiction Psychiatry.
