Nima Sheth, MD, MPA
Adult Psychiatrist
Dr. Nima Sheth is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist specializing in trauma and women's mental health, specifically perinatal health.
Dr. Sheth brings a compassionate, evidence-based approach to supporting women through the unique mental health challenges that can arise during pregnancy, postpartum, and transitions across the reproductive lifespan. She specializes in the treatment of ADHD, trauma disorders, PMDD, and depression and anxiety disorders.
Dr. Sheth also serves as the Director of Policy and Networks at the Reilly Group, leading the Mind the Gap Initiative in close collaboration with Postpartum Support International. Dr. Sheth is a senior organizational leader and strategic thinker who has held high-level leadership positions within the federal sector and major international organizations.
She recently served (2020-2025) as the Associate Administrator for Women’s Services at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Senior Medical Advisor in the office of the director at the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
Prior to joining The Chesapeake Center, Dr. Sheth worked at Georgetown University Hospital as Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, where she served as a clinician, researcher, and educator. Her efforts focused primarily on improving the care of the critically mentally ill and highly traumatized populations.
Dr. Sheth has worked both nationally and internationally on projects to improve the quality of mental health services, increase mental health capacity, strengthen referral networks, and optimize the coordination of collaborative and integrative care. She has extensive experience working in interdisciplinary teams to solve complex mental health system issues that require bridging the divides of the clinical, administrative, and policy domains.
Education and Training:
Dr. Sheth received her undergraduate degree from St. Louis University and completed medical school at the St. Louis University School of Medicine.
Dr. Sheth completed her residencies at both Georgetown University Medical Center and the University of Illinois College of Medicine. She also obtained her Master's in Public Health from the University of Illinois, Chicago.
