Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist
Dr. Rene Stokes is a Board Certified Adult and Child Psychiatrist with an interest in characterizing and treating ADHD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and psychiatric symptoms driven by neuroinflammatory conditions.
Dr. Stokes believes that emotional wellness is the output of a symphony of inputs, including developmental history, past medical history, current health status, trauma history, academic experiences, current quality of social relationships, and more. Dr Stokes begins care with each new patient by taking inventory of these inputs and then partnering with patients and families to develop comprehensive curated treatment plans to reach the patient’s stated goals and objectives.
She also has specific integrative and functional psychiatry training and weaves that into her practice, alongside traditional evidence-based interventions, to help patients uncover root cause contributors to their mental health challenges and create lasting solutions.
Ongoing care for patients may include psychotherapy, psychoeducation, medication management, lab testing, skill building, academic/occupational accommodation optimization, and other interventions.
Dr. Stokes has practiced in school-based clinics, inpatient units, outpatient clinics, substance treatment programs, crisis programs, and forensic care settings. She believes that no matter the setting, taking the time to understand a patient’s story is a provider’s best chance at truly understanding a patient’s challenges. Exploring patients’ stories and partnering with them on their journey are the most rewarding aspects of her career.
Dr. Stokes is also an author who shares her insights on the various inputs for emotional wellness in her first book, Parenting the Whole First Way, and her upcoming book, Working the Whole First Way.
